Post Easter Update

Hi Everyone,

Well, I trust you had a blessed Easter – I certainly did. It was wonderful spending time with my parents, who visited from Maundy Thursday until the following Wednesday. We took them to see Hahndorf, which was very beautiful. Dad and I ventured out to order a traditional German meal of mixed grill. Out came a plate of sauerkraut, potatoes, sausages and a thick pork chop. Needless to say, I wasn’t able to eat it all!

On another day, we also took them to the Barossa Valley, which were having a festival. We visited a number of towns in the area, but we specifically went to Bethany to see where Dad’s family originated. On the way home, we stopped at the Whispering Wall, which fascinated Vaughn as it was his first time seeing it. It’s a dam wall that was built in 1901 and if two people stand on each side of it, you can have a whispered conversation and it sounds as though you are standing right next to each other. Pretty amazing, really!

Vaughn and I joined a fitness club last week, that’s just up the road, so we are looking forward to attending that together on a regular basis. The staff there are fantastic and very supportive. So much so, that they give new members a little card, which you get stamped every time you go. If you go 8 times in your first month, you receive a gift. Vaughn and I are particularly interested in the “Wellness Program”. This is a room similar to most gyms, with equipment such as bike, treadmill, weight machines etc. The difference is that you use a key specifically programmed with your program, which you just insert into the equipment and it tells you how many reps you need to do and the weight etc. It even tells you if you are doing it at the correct speed and lifting the weights in the correct range. Very advanced stuff!

This weekend we have had Vaughn’s parents come and stay with us. They arrived on Friday evening and yesterday (Saturday), we went to Victor Harbour. I’ve attached some photos of the day. You can see that I am a little obsessed with sunsets, going by these photos, and those taken on my USA trip earlier this year.

Victor Harbour

Today we’ve had a fairly laid back day. Ted, Bev and Vaughn are currently driving around, looking at nearby caravan parks for them to stay at when they next visit… on their way through, driving around Australia.

That’s about it for the moment! Thanks for reading!

Love Janelle
