Baby Pics!

We had our 19 week ultrasound scan yesterday morning and it was amazing! Here are some pictures with explanation for you to marvel with me (perhaps I'm a little bias, however!):

This is a picture of Bubs' head. His/her nose/mouth etc are on the top left hand side. Because of where the placenta is located, it looks like s/he is breastfeeding! Cute!

Part of this picture is a picture of Bubs' hand. The 2 white lines sticking up vertically are 2 of his/her fingers. It's up to you to decide if s/he is giving a "peace" sign, or the other way around!

This is a picture of Bubs' foot. There is a cluster of white lines in the middle of the scan... this is the foot.

Bubs flipped over for this final picture and is now facing down. The white curved line is his/her spine and the head is to the right.

It truly was amazing to watch the ultrasound. I couldn't believe how much Bubs was moving, but that I couldn't feel any of it... I know I will in the coming weeks, but I really was stunned at how much s/he moves!

Bubs is growing really well and is developed within one day of his/her due date, so I'm glad s/he's healthy! The placenta is well positioned and they confirmed that it won't move during pregnancy, so that won't be an issue during labor, thank goodness!

The radiologist checked almost every part of Bubs' anatomy and he was great in pointing everything out to us. We got to see some fantastic stuff: the heart chambers, the brain, kidneys, stomach, blood pumping. He also pointed out certain bones, which they measure to confirm development. I was fascinated that he could actually see all of that... but he's been doing it for a while and everything would probably stick out pretty obviously to him!

Watching our baby be reveal like that, it really makes you think about God's creation and how He has His hand in all of this. How could all of this possibly have come from a big bang? There's too much intricacy involved! And learning more about what my body is doing and what the baby's is doing... it has to be God's inspiration - what is actually random about it? Nothing! He knew what He was doing and continues to do when He creates something!

PS In case you were wondering, we didn't find out the sex of the baby... so the s/he and him/her is a genuine unknown!
