The Springs

Welcome to Vaughn and Nell's website, updating you on our lives! Thanks for visiting and we hope you enjoy catching up on what we're up to!

I’m proudly a full-time Mummy, looking after our beautiful daughter (nicknamed “Little Spring” in my blog) and a full time wife to a wonderful Lutheran pastor (“nicknamed “Big Spring” in my blog). I was born and have lived in Australia my whole life, but I also have a US passport and a passion for all things American… especially food and my family!

Preparations Continue

Well, we are certainly closer to being ready for when Bubs comes (if you can actually ever be ready!). After a trip to Ikea and Toys 'R' Us, we now have a change table and cot. We are very much in love with both of them. The cot (from Toys) was a great find (after initial dramas with another cot we were going for). Just the shape etc is gorgeous, but it converts to a toddler bed and sofa, which is handy for the future. It also has a storage drawer at the bottom, which I'm still deciding what I'll fill it with... probably linen/blankets etc.

And the change table... very cute! We didn't find another like it, after we fell in love with this one ages ago. Again, it's handy for the future as the change table part comes off and it becomes just a standard bookcase. Versatility is good!

Even Vaughn is really excited about our purchases... both of us have confessed to going into the nursery and just staring at the items. It's still hard to believe that we have a little one on the way that will be using these!

Once we get my glider chair (don't ask about those dramas!) I know I'm going to have an addiction to going in the room, sitting in the chair and just looking... possibly falling asleep!

PS Sorry that the cot photos are portrait... I don't know why as they are landscape pictures!

See All My Pretty Colours?!

I love my cross stitching and over the years, I'd built up a few different colours of threads. Then my collection got a sudden boost after another resident here at the college very generously gave me all their cross stitching things they inherited from their grandmother... there were heaps of patterns (yah!) but best of all... heaps of new colours that I didn't already have. After waking up VERY early this morning as I couldn't sleep (eh-hem, 1:30am) I organised them all in the boxes that also came with the package... aren't they pretty?!

Ikea

After talking about getting a bookcase for Vaughn since before we moved into our new place, we finally bought it this week! I very proudly put it together for Vaughn and it looks great in his study alcove. He accidentally bought the one with the doors, but we both agree that it's a better long-term investment as when we move into a manse, he'll more than likely have a heap of bookcases/shelves provided, so this new purchase can become a more ornamental hutch type feature in a room for me... I can live with that! This is the end result:

It didn't take Vaughn long to fill the book case up, but now that he has, it means I can organise my study properly as all his book boxes are out of the way!

Thank you, Ikea... you never let us down.

Happy Easter

I haven't done a lot over this 4 day weekend, but I did manage to make Easter Chocolates! Over the past few years, I had been collecting little gift boxes, thinking I would re-use them, but really thinking I should just get rid of them, because I'm not using them... then I came up with the perfect use... chocolate boxes! I just wish I'd thought of it earlier!

Here's the end results:
